On Friday 19th September BLENNZ hosted the launch of The Vision Book – My Child, Our Journey, a resource produced by the Ministry of Education in partnership with the Ministry of Health, BLENNZ, the Blind Foundation and other sector agencies.
Mary Fisher, who provided one of the stories talks about the launch and how she sees the book helping parents, whānau and families.
On Wednesday 10th July 2013 BLENNZ a farewell function was held for Jane Wells, Principal of BLENNZ who was retiring after 34 years of working in the field of blindness education.
Jane Wells began her career in working with children and young people who are blind and low vision in 1979 when she took on the position of coaching students after school at Homai College and 34 years later retires after a rich and rewarding career in this specialist area of education.
A career which has spanned most of her working life included working in the Resource Room at Manurewa High School, then as National Advisor, Manager Itinerant Services, Homai Campus before being appointed to the position of Senior Manager Assessment and Teaching then finally Principal.
